What is a "webinar" anyway?

A webinar (web + seminar) is a great way to attend a training without having to travel. Webinars are conducted over the Internet and typically combine three methods of communication: phone, online presentation, and a chat window for typing questions.  A webinar is 'live' in the sense that information is conveyed according to an agenda, with a starting and ending time. In most cases, the presenter may speak over a standard telephone line, pointing out information being presented on screen, and the audience can respond with questions.

How do I participate in a webinar?

Most, if not all, webinars will require you to pre-register.  Once your registration is received, you will be sent a confirmation email or letter with details on how to join the webinar.  Typically, you will be given a web address and login information to connect to the online presentation.  Additionally, you may also receive a toll-free number and access code to join the audio/conference call portion of the webinar.
