Idaho Training Initiatives:
Early Childhood
A large and growing body of research supports the critical relationship between early childhood experiences and successful life-long outcomes. The pedagogy of early care and education is built upon recognizing the interconnectedness of emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development and learning - the whole child. A quality curriculum for young children is based on consideration of child development, and a fundamental understanding of the conditions and supports that enhance learning in young children.
Early Learning Standards
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) specifies certain requirements for aligning Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to state standards. Agreed upon standards may be used as a starting point for reflective teachers to create learning experiences that build on what children already know and capture their interest in learning. Standards are merely a part of a quality educational system in which assessment, standards, curriculum, and instructional practices are aligned.
