What is the Idaho Youth Leadership Forum (YLF)?
A leadership, citizenship and career development summer program for high school juniors and seniors with disabilities.
Selected youth serve as delegates from their communities at a five-day conference in Boise where they gain information about resources related to assistive technology, community support, career development and civil rights.
Student delegates are able to work on leadership and self-advocacy skills with their peers. It is also an opportunity for successful adults with disabilities to serve as role models and assist youth to realize their abilities, rights, and responsibilities to pursue meaningful employment and contribute to their communities.
YLF is sponsored by the Idaho Council on Developmental Disabilities in collaboration with the Idaho Department of Education and community partners.
The 2009 Idaho Youth Leadership Forum is scheduled for July 13-17, 2009 at Boise State University. Approximately 25 high school juniors and seniors with disabilities will be selected to attend. Application deadline is March 20, 2009.
