The recent changes to the ISAT-Alt Assessment Handbook are to the Reading Grades 9 & 10 only. Teachers do not have to reprint the entire Assessment Handbook just the 9-10 grade reading section only.

Instructional Aides

Please have all aides watch the ISAT-Alt overview webinar if they will be assisting you in the instruction of students, and in the collection of artifacts and data on the extended content area objectives being assessed.

BI-Capture - Update (03-03-10)

The SDE has purchased 120 BI-Capture units and the implementation project is still in the planning stages as it has been determined that extensive training for all stakeholders should be held prior to the project launch.

In order to provide for adequate training the SDE has decided that the summer is the optimum time for teachers, therapists, specialists and psychologists to be trained in preparation for a successful implementation. A master excel of all volunteers is kept at the SDE and all parties will be notified regarding training and implementation this summer. If you do not wish to participate you will be asked to respond at that time.

Updated Handbooks Posted (01-28-10)

The ISAT-Alt Collection and Assessment Handbooks have been updated and are available for download on the AA Documents page.

I-PASS

The I-PASS system will not be up and running until mid- to late-February. Check back for further announcements.

(Note, last year’s online IAA site is only for accessing reports from prior years. If you need last year’s reports and need to access the former site, see the help sheets listed for download below under the "IAA Data Reporting..." announcement.)

Data Excel Sheets

Data Excel sheets are not mandatory for submitting the ISAT-Alt but are for classroom purposes only. Teachers will enter the data directly into the I-PASS system by clicking on a drop down menu as artifacts are submitted. Our programmers automated this system for you! More information to come and training will be available mid-February.

ISAT-Alt for Ninth Grade Students

Ninth Grade Students are to be assessed on the ISAT-Alt using the same rubrics, goals and objectives as the 10th grade in the handbook.  For more information, go to the AA FAQ page and search for the category of "9th Grade ISAT-Alt."

Flip Cameras

The SDE is aware of the need and we are looking into funding. You will be notified at the end of February as soon as we have access to the online system to identify those teachers still in need of a camera.

Parent Permission to Photo/Video Form

The Idaho State Department of Education legal department has reviewed the protocol for photo/video of students for our I-PASS longitudinal data system and has determined that a State Department of Education permission form is unnecessary. Please discard this permission form and do not submit with your student portfolio into the I-PASS system. That makes one less piece of paperwork for you to complete and submit!
