Educational Supports for Children with Autism

Welcome to Educational Supports for Children with Autism. This online course presents and introduces the Autism Supports model to school teams.  Originally presented in a series of two-day workshops held throughout the state of Idaho in the spring and fall of 2007, this information now comes to you in a condensed online format.

One way to approach utilizing the materials could be to have school team members, including classroom teachers and paraprofessionals, view individual lesson videos and review accompanying materials.  Breaking the lessons into small, manageable chunks which could then be further discussed and explored in a small group setting may work well for school team members.  Keep in mind that this online course format is not meant to duplicate the two day workshop and implementation of the model would not be expected; the goal is to provide information.  Additionally, this online course works best for desktop viewing.

This online course utilizes:

  • streaming video content
  • downloadable reading and study materials
  • downloadable video transcripts

All of this allows us to provide state of the art online learning capabilities to you in a “learn anywhere/anytime environment.”  Great detail has gone into the creation and production of these learning materials and we think you will find the content to be of excellent quality and the learning potential to exceed your expectations.

We appreciate the time, effort and experience of our presenters, Dr. Michael Day and Judith Hall who work as consultants with the Autism Supports project.  Additional support is provided by the Idaho State Department of Education Division of Special Education.  Without them this would not be possible.
